Andre 3000 to Begin Shooting Jimi Hendrix Biopic

Rapper Andre 3000 will star as Jimi Hendrix in an upcoming movie about the legendary guitarist.

According to IFTN, the Outkast member will begin filming on a 6-week shoot in Ireland later this month.

The biopic, titled All is By My Side, follows a pre-fame Hendrix during his stay in England from 1966 to 1967 while he recorded his debut album Are You Experienced.

The film is in the hands of director John Ridley who served as a writer on "Martin" and "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," and who later penned the screenplays for 1997's U-Turn and this year's Red Tails.

Last summer, reports surfaced that the Experience Hendrix estate stopped the project from going forward. No word on why the film is now set to shoot.
