A man in India is currently in police custody for installing a chastity belt on his wife's genitals. Yes, he put a lock on his wife's genitals.

The belt was discovered after the woman, Sitabai Chouhan, tried to poison herself and wound up in a hospital. Doctors uncovered the device while examining her. Authorities had to track down her husband to unlock the device. He is said to carry the key in his socks.

Her husband, who police described as an alcoholic mechanic, drilled holes on both sides of her genitals and put on the lock himself. He says he did it because women in his family have strayed before and he was making sure it wasn't going to happen to him.

The man with the master key is being held behind bars, charged with cruelty and voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

Chouhan is in the hospital recovering.
