Watch 3 sneak peeks
“Behind the Music” will tackle Brandy’s life story tonight and chronicle her rise to fame, highs and lows included.
A lot of people think they know Brandy’s story but it looks like producers dug deep to unearth unheard details, one of those being Brandy’s relationship with Whitney Houston. You may remember that the two women worked together for the “Cinderella” made-for-TV movie, but it wasn’t until Whitney’s passing that Brandy became more vocal about how close they really were.
Tonight’s episode of the docu-series will tackle Houston’s influence on the young singer in life and death. Houston died on Brandy’s birthday earlier this year.
Brandy talks about the day she found out that Whitney died:

Brandy also discusses her severe body image issues, from the pressure she felt to look a certain way to her struggle with an eating disorder. She describes herself as being “the unhappiest teenager in the world.”

The episode in it's entirety will chronicle her rise from singing in the church in Carson, California to singing on the national stage, as well as her relationship with Wanye Morris, lying about being married, and the fatal car crash that she was involved in.
For someone who has gone through so much emotional drama, it seems like Brandy has held it together pretty well. Hopefully her daughter won’t have to go through some of the body image issues and relationship drama that she did.
Catch “Behind the Music” tonight at 9pm on Vh1.
