LAULYP Talks Hollywood With 1st Annual Entertainment Summit
The Los Angeles Urban League Young Professionals covers the ins and outs of the entertainment industry.
Over the course of five days, the LAULYP, a civic organization devoted to fostering community and opportunity in the African American community, brought together entertainment heavy hitters and budding Hollywood power players through a dynamic series of panel discussions, mentoring events, film screenings and award ceremonies.
The brainchild of LAULYP president Abby Harris, the first annual Entertainment Summit provided a much needed entryway for young professionals looking to begin their entertainment careers, an industry where minorities are still grossly underrepresented.
“Our mission with this inaugural Entertainment Summit is to establish an annual event series designed to usher in the next generation of creative imagination, unparalleled quality, intelligent humor, pride, and integrity for the entertainment industry” said Harris, who works in the Business and Legal Affairs department for Dreamworks Animation. “We will continue to focus on those powerful behind the lens professions within television, film, music, sports, and theatre by providing an impactful event series filled with professional networking opportunities while highlighting multicultural achievements and contributions in entertainment.”
The Entertainment Summit is just one of the groundbreaking initiatives from the LAULYP, as the organization also recently launched their “Building a Better You” series in addition to regular networking mixers, fundraisers and community events.
