Are You Down With the Swirl?
Black and white marriage acceptance is on the rise, isn't it about time?
We have come so far from 1958, when the words were, “…marriages between white and colored people,” and the approval percentage was nearly nonexistent.
Ten years down the road, “…marriages between whites and nonwhites” have risen to a 20% acceptance.
Today, over 4 thousand Americans were asked via Gallup’s Minority Rights and Relations poll.
A beautiful 87% approved of marriage between blacks and whites.
While the Black approval percentage is an almost-universal 96%, the white approval is 84%. The lowest rate of acceptance is the elderly community of 65 years and older, which came in at the lowest, 70%.
American youth, however, is much quicker to accept Black-white marriage at 96% while middle-aged adults are just below that at 93%.
With that, we steadily move forward towards universal acceptance.
