Do you believe in the Power of the Internet?
Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg does.
Mark Zuckerberg is not only the CEO and Founder of Facebook; he is now the creator of a new nonprofit initiative titled called Internet.org.
With intent to remove barriers within universal Internet connectivity, the traditional, non-governmental organization operates under a “philanthrocapitalism” perspective, which entails prospering while also providing.
“Internet connectivity is a human right,” argues Zuckerberg. Other big names in the tech world to follow this “philanthrocapitalism” model include Samsung, Ericson, and Nokia, as well as of course, Zuckerberg’s first baby, Facebook.
The term, ‘philanthrocapitalism,’ was coined courtesy of Matthew Bishop of The Economist, co-author of, “Philanthrocapitalism: How Giving Can Save the World.”
Perhaps this new nonprofit model is what the world needs. What do you think?
