New Africa Center to debut in NYC
The Museum of African Art reinvents itself.
The Museum of African Art is making moves with plans to not only transform into the New Africa Center, but also to create a policy institute and members’ club for business execs, cultural leaders, and policy makers.
Of course, these things don't happen over night. With the plan having originated back in 2007, the scheduled open date will be in 2015.
With a $60 million capital campaign to complete construction of the building, Chief Financial Officer Phil Conte told the Wall Street Journal that around $45 million will go towards completion of rebuilding, and the rest will be for art acquisitions and operating costs until the opening.
Do you think the New Africa Center is a step in the right direction?
