Surprising Worker Furloughed
Even Nobel Prize winners are hurting from the shutdown.
David Wineland doesn’t have any ordinary job. He’s a physicist with the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Right now, he’s out of work.
In 2012, Wineland earned a pretty big bragging right on his resume. He won the Nopel Prize in Physics.
So what’s it take for a Nobel Prize winner to be cut off? The only thing stopping Wineland from working right now is a government shutdown.
Wineland isn’t the only one to be furloughed during the shutdown. The shutdown is taking a mighty toll on other scientific avenues. University scientists have halted research, along with the National Institute of Health.
What do you think are the repercussions of a government shut down on scientific research?
