When Will Wage Discrimination End?
As of 2012, women earn 77 cents for every dollar that men collect. What's up with that?
As we work tirelessly towards equality, some issues just aren't getting resolved, one of which is the workplace where women are still paid 23 percent less than men. That's absurd.
What's worse is that minority groups have a wider gap. African-American women receive 69 cents for every dollar paid to African-American men. Why?
Hispanic women are paid 58 cents for every dollar earned by a Hispanic man.
So basically, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, women might as well still be living in the fifties.
"Unfortunately for women and their families, it's the same old story-- another year of no improvement," said Linda D. Hallman, executive director and CEO of the American Association of University Women. "We're urging President Obama to do all he can through the executive branch to move the ball down the field."
With studies that show women are paid less at the same job as equally-qualified men, something must be done to change this outdated mess.
What do you think we can do to push equal work for equal pay?
