Black Student Becomes 3rd Death in Chardon HS Shooting

Demetrius Hewlin was shot in the back of the head by shooter.

A third student has died in the tragic Chardon High School shootings in Ohio.

The student, Demetrius Hewlin, 17, was reportedly shot in the back of the head by the assailant who is now in custody, T.J. Lane.

Hewlin wasn't the only one who died in the shooting as two other young boys, 16-year-old Daniel Parmertor and 17-year-old Russell King Jr., fell victim to gunshots.

"We are very saddened by the loss of our son and others in our Chardon community," Hewlin's family said.

"Demetrius was a happy young man who loved life and his family and friends. We will miss him very much but we are proud that he will be able to help others through organ donation. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

Reports indicate Hewlin, King, Parmertor and the two wounded students were shot while waiting for their daily 15-minute ride to Auburn Career Center, a vocational center.
