Cast of 'The View' Clamor Over 'Niggerhead'

Barbara Walters can't say it. Whoopi Godberg can
Things got a bit awkward on "The View" Monday between Sherrie Shepherd and Barbara Walters during a discussion on who should and should not use the word "nigger."
While discussing Texas Governor Rick Perry’s association with a family ranch named "Niggerhead," Walters repeated the word "niggerhead" in context of the discussion and Shepherd immediately put her in her place by saying, "I didn't like the way you said it.”
She added, “I don't know if it's a semantics thing... but something just goes through my body. When you say it, it's a different connotation."
Whoopi Goldberg also repeated the word but Shepherd said she was fine with the way she said it.
“When you say it you say N-I-G-G-E-R and I don’t like that,” Shepard said to Walters.
This isn’t the first time "The View" took on the heated subject. Goldberg and Shepherd thought the word was okay when used only among black people. While Hasslebeck argued her view by comparing the N-word to saying the word broccoli! Uhmmm….okay Elisabeth.
Was Shepherd right? Take a look and let us know what you think.
