Former Gangbanger Tells Kids to Stop Being Thugs

The 'Scared Straight' program is aimed at helping teens who are on the wrong paths

A&E's second season premiere of "Beyond Scared Straight" presented a new group of troubled teens who need direction.

A former gangster spoke to the kids to help them realize where their actions and ways of thinking are taking them. "Stop wanting to be thugs, 'cause it ain't no future in being a thug," he told them. "Stop wanting to gangbang. All the gangbangers are dead or in jail."

The kids experienced what it's like to stay in jail and see how prisoners are treated.

Do you think this method is the right way to help troubled teens? If not, tell us what you think is a better way to get them on the right track.
