Gallup: Most Americans Polled Blame Obama For Bad Economy
President's approval rating is said to be at or near 39 percent
A new Gallup poll released Wednesday says a slight majority of Americans polled now blame President Barack Obama for the nation's economic problems. More Americans (69 percent), however, blame former President George W. Bush, the poll said.
Independents blamed Obama (60%) and Bush (67%) almost equally. Obama is not much to blame for the state of the economy said 27%, and 20% said he’s not to blame at all.
The numbers dovetail with Obama’s 39% rating, which Marist reported Tuesday was an all-time low.
Public opinion appears to have drastically shifted in a little over two year’s time. When the same poll was taken in July 2009, 80% of Americans blamed Bush by either a moderate amount or a great deal for the nation’s economic problems, as opposed to just 32% for Obama.
