Hogan's former lover accuses him of torment
In an interview with NBC-TV "Today Show" host Matt Lauer on Tuesday, Linda openly discussed how her ex allegedly tormented her during their 24 years of marriage.
The seemingly happily married couple, who appeared together on a VH1 hit reality show "Hogan Knows Best" back in the mid-2000s, won the hearts of viewers as the perfect family dynamic. The couple, who have two children Nick and Brooke, gave the impression that they were a normal American family.
After Linda served Hulk (real name: Terry Bollea) with divorce papers back in 2006, word of the split left quite a few mouths wide open. Fans were literally caught off guard and could not believe that the Hogan family was falling apart at the seams.
Now 51-year-old Linda, who has been divorced from 58-year-old Hulk since 2008, is airing out the family laundry. She writes, "I was always afraid he would kill me in one of his rages. I did not want to be a statistic, like Nicole Simpson."
Linda claims she chose to never reveal any of her abuse at the hands of Hulk because "I was afraid to say anything. Had I said something, the carpet would have been pulled up underneath his career. I don't know what my kids would have done. They were little at the time. It's a very scary position. You don't know how far they're going to go. One fight can escalate and turn into something else."
Not surprisingly, Linda also discussed drugs as being a large part of the reason why Hulk displayed such violence towards her. "Drugs were always around -- prescribed," she said of the WWE star. "[Wrestlers have] always got injuries. There was a constant flow of pain pills, anti-inflammatories, steroids -- a lot of them did take steroids. Combined? It makes somebody . . . you don't know what you're dealing with."
When Lauer asked if Hulk ever apologized for his violent displays, Linda replied, "He did not feel remorse and to this day he’s never apologized for any of his actions."
Lauer emphasized that Hulk Hogan, the 12-time world heavyweight wrestling champion turned actor was invited to share his side of the story on the Today Show as well, but he refused to comment on Linda's allegations.
