Dating expert Deborrah Cooper will be keynote speaker
The topic of interracial romance has been explored through many platforms including books, movies and online forums. Now, the Society of Single Professionals -- which bills itself as the world's largest non-profit singles organization -- will host an Interracial Dating Convention in San Francisco on October 14.
Dating expert and author Deborrah Cooper will keynote the convention, which will touch on topics like:
- The pros and cons of interracial dating
- How U.S. media negatively impacts the romantic options of women of color
- Why interracial relationships between blacks and whites are the most fraught with tension
- How and why black churches keep African-American women single
"Interracial dating is neither superior nor inferior to dating within your own race," says Cooper. "There are advantages and disadvantages, as well as special challenges to each.”
The convention comes at a time when Americans seem to be more approving of interracial relationships, specifically among blacks and whites, than ever before, at 86%.
Single professionals of all ages and races are invited to attend the one-day convention. To find out more details read here.
