Will unemployment numbers help debt ceiling negotiations?

President Obama is using this opportunity with the release of the latest unemployment numbers to show the importance of getting a debt ceiling deal. The economy gained just 18,000 jobs in June, even less than the 25,000 jobs added in May. The total number of unemployed people rose to 14.1 million.

"We’ve added more than 2 million new private sector jobs over the past 16 months, but the recession cost us more than 8 million," Obama says in the above video.
