American Black Film Festival Changes Lanes
The ABFF is moving on up (north).
When the American Black Film Festival was created in 1997, it allowed options for minority filmmakers and actors to receive recognition from a Hollywood that wouldn’t. Nia Long, Spike Lee, and Boris Kodjoe are some of the many prominent figures that attend and participate in the festival every year.
However, the ABFF is reading to change some things. In a whirlwind of success, the festival is aiming to strengthen the Black film industry. The best place to do it? The Big Apple.
The festival is seeking to solidify growth and reach maximum potential. NYC will offer what Miami can’t.
Still, some are suggesting the act is political. Florida hasn’t had the greatest rep as of late.
