Bob Marley Died Wanting More Black Fans
Ziggy Marley expounds on 'Marley' documentary.
While Bob Marley is popular today, among all races and nationalities, while he was living, he didn't have that same level of universal appeal.
The recent documentary. "Marley", shows that despite the reggae star's international success, he never had the African American fanbase he always wanted.
“He had issue with it,” Marley’s son Ziggy Marley said in an interview with ABC's Nightline. “Because he wanted African Americans to hear his message.”
He continues, "He covers such a wide spectrum of people now, and it keeps growing. He has a message for everybody. He has a message for the fighters. He has a message for the peace guys.”
