Granddaughters Of Nelson Mandela To Get Reality TV Show
Will this show tarnish his legacy or provide an close look at the family we all respect?
There’s definitely a possible double-edged sword here. Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway and Swati Dlamini, the 30-something grandaughters of Nelson Mandela and Winni Madikizela-Mandela, are set to premiere a new reality series on COZI TV on Sunday. The 13-episode first season follows the two women as they look to carry on the family legacy while juggling motherhood.
Mandela, who was recently treated for a lung infection and had surgery to remove gallstones, does not appear in the series but his ex wife does and seems to relish it. Manaway and Dlamini did say, however, that Mandela will likely watch the show since he is a fan of reality TV—particularly “Toddlers and Tiaras.”
If done right, the show could be really good, providing an up close look at people close to Nelson Mandela and what they think about the anti-apartheid activist. Not everyone can afford a trip down to South Africa to visit his prison and meet and greet his family in person. (NewsOne)
