Scholar Says She Has Paper Saying Jesus Was Married
Faded piece of papyrus has Jesus referring to his wife.
Christian historian Karen L. King says she has proof that Jesus Christ was married and had a wife.
On Tuesday, King uncovered a scrap of papyrus that was left out of the bible. She says a line the Coptic written scripture translates into:
Jesus said to them, ‘My wife ...she will be able to be my disciple.”’
If you're wondering what the big deal is about Jesus possibly being hitched, the Catholic church bases its principles on women and married me not being allowed to be priests.
King isn't saying that the scripture is actual proof that Jesus was married, insisting that the line may have been written centuries after he died. She is seeking out other scholars to get their take on the writing.
