Annual salute to performing arts includes pioneer of the Chicago blues sound
President Barack Obama on Sunday got in a nice shout out to a musician from his hometown of Chicago, blue guitarist Buddy Guy. As a pioneer of the Windy City's blues sound, Guy was the force that pushed the electronically-amplified guitar to the forefront of that sound. Singers Bonnie Raitt, Tracey Chapman and guitarist Jeff Beck performed the musical tribute to Guy. Other honorees include late night comedian David Letterman, actor Dustin Hoffman, ballerina Natalia Makarova and rock legends Led Zeplin. The full honor ceremony is scheduled to air on Dec. 26 on CBS. View video of the president's remarks at the White House in the player above. (Reuters)
