German engineering for the car, and the crib now

Admit it, we know some people out there with champagne tastes, but beer pockets. You know, our loved ones who ride around in Benzes but have Wal-Mart furniture in the crib.

Well, they might finally be able to live the Benz life outside of the car now. The German automobile maker is coming out with a line of home furniture.

Fox News reports:

The collection will consist of a sofa, a chaise lounge, a dining room table, a sideboard, assorted chairs, a home theater system stand, a chest of drawers and a bed. Each piece promises to offer “dynamic yet timelessly elegant design,” including wooden chair backrest shells inspired by the seat shells in Mercedes’ latest research vehicles.

Even the sideboard (pictured below), the most pedestrian of dining room furniture pieces, has a glass door with a surrounding bevel meant to resemble the air intake of a sports car. Ensuring that owners remember who’s behind the design, each piece will wear a subtle Mercedes-Benz Style logo.

Will you be making a purchase? The furniture will be available in high-end stores in October.
