NC Mother Shoots Children, Boyfriend Before Committing Suicide

Police are still unsure of the motive and intent behind the assault.

After a domestic dispute on Monday, Sandra Palmer, 47, shot her two children and their father before killing herself. Her 14-year-old son, Maurice Edmonds II, died on the scene from his wounds. Her 18-year-old daughter, Danielle Imani Jameison, and boyfriend, Maurice Eugene Edmonds Sr., 46, survived the attack and are in fair condition at a local hospital. After she shot her family, FOX8 reports that Palmer went into another room and shot herself with a second handgun. Edmonds, Sr. and Palmer were unmarried but had been in a 17-year relationship.

Officials confirm that Palmer applied for one gun permit on Dec. 11, 2012 and received it nine days later. Capt. K.L. Whitesell of the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said there were no disqualifiers on the background check for the gun permit, only minor traffic offenses. The motive and intent behind the assault is still being investigated. (News One)
