NYC's Apollo Theater Will Become 'Apollo Club Harlem' For New Production
Accomplished singer, director and choreographer Maurice Hines will take the reins
A new show called, "Apollo Club Harlem" will transform New York City's legendary Apollo Theater into a glamorous, Cotton Club-style nightclub in February. The production will be directed, choreographed and hosted by noted jazz singer and director Maurice Hines.
The Apollo's orchestra level will become a club-style setting that offers table service, drinks, dancing and the chance to interact with the performers. The historic theater's main-floor seats will be removed, and the stage will be extended.
Grammy-winning jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater will be among the other performers, and "Apollo Club Harlem" will have three performances, with tickets on sale Monday.
