Obama to Pardon Thanksgiving Turkey

President kicks off holiday season with White House tradition

Back from a historic trip to Asia and settling down from his hard-fought re-election campaign, President Barack Obama will awake at the White House on Wednesday to take care of White House holiday business. He’ll pardon the national Thanksgiving turkey, a presidential tradition started by President John F. Kennedy in 1963. The ceremony will take place Wednesday afternoon in the Rose Garden.
