It's Now Easier to Stalk on Twitter
Unleash the spamming floodgates!
In the past, Twitter users had to follow each other in order to send direct messages. Users can now enable their accounts to receive DMs from anyone, including people they don't follow.
This move from the microblogging giant seems to be a way for users to avoid that whole awkward follow-back tango. It also allows anyone -- spammers, companies, and nosy journalists like myself -- to bombard you with a DM.
If you like being trolled by Twitter users this might be a delightful option for you. Simply go on your account's main settings page and check the box that allows it. Thankfully, this setting is turned off by default.
