Rapper-turned-businessman responds to grieving family's doubts

Almost a month after authorities ruled the death of celebrity manager Chris Lighty a suicide, his long-time client and friend 50 Cent is launching an investigation into his death.

Lighty, a force in the hip-hop industry as a marketing and promotion whiz who managed the careers of such stars as 50 Cent and Mariah Carey, died in August at the age of 44 after what officials said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head following an argument with his wife at his Bronx, N.Y., home.

According to myfoxny.com, Lighty's will leaves everything to his wife except for a trust fund set up for their children. Lighty's mother and brother are among family members skeptical of the New York City Medical Examiner's ruling that the death was a suicide. At the family's request, 50 Cent has put together an investigative team to search for answers.

"Chris has been an important part of my business and personal growth for a decade," 50 Cent told a CBS affiliate. "He will be greatly missed."

"I want the truth to come out," Lighty's brother Dave told the same affiliate. "This isn't my brother. My brother was a strong person ... nothing is adding up."
