Amber Riley Hints She's Leaving "Glee," Retracts, Confuses Everyone
1 year ago
Is she or is she not?
Is Amber Riley quitting "Glee"?
Riley, 26, and the show's only black character, worried fans when she collapsed on a red carpet early this month. But yesterday, she worried them in a different way when she Tweeted messages that hinted she wouldn't be returning to the show.
Speaking in third person, she first wrote,
"That's a wrap on Amber Riley! Just closed a chapter in my life, the only thing I've known day in and day out for three years. I'm going to miss the whole Glee family, seeing them everyday! I have so many brothers and sisters now :) But I am looking forward to a much needed and deserved summer vacation! SCHOOL'S OUT Glee Kids! Let's play!"
But then she asked her "gleeks" to keep watching the series to find out what happens with her beloved character, writing: "Stay tuned to see what's next for Mercedes ;)"

And then...she retracted her first statement completely, clarifying (and confusing us all) with:
"My tweet apparently has been misconstrued. I was not confirming I was leaving the show. Just stating that I would miss being in the classroom everyday with the cast and that would be changing. Thanks for the support guys :)"
Sounds like the classic case of a celeb who said too much, and a publicist that went into damage control.
