Basketball hall-of-famer’s attorney says underpayment was a misunderstanding
Former NBA superstar Dennis Rodman was found in contempt of court in California and ordered to pay $500,000 in back child support to his ex-wife, Michelle Rodman, her attorney said Thursday. Orange County Superior Court Commission Barry Michaelson warned the flamboyant basketball player could face jail time if he fails to pay the child support. Michelle Rodman had argued that her ex-husband owed about $850,000, but the two agreed on the lesser amount outside of court. Dennis Rodman’s attorney says he unintentionally paid too little in child support because he was unaware and not properly served with documents ordering he pay an increased amount. The legal battle between the Rodmans began in 2004, when Michelle filed for divorce. The two have pre-teen children: a son and a daughter. (Associated Press)
