Doc McStuffins Doll Beats Dora Among Preschoolers

Holiday shoppers are scrambling to pick up the newest Disney doll to hit shelves.

Move over Dora and Elmo, the Doc McStuffins’ “Time For Your Checkup” doll is the new cool toy among preschoolers. The Disney show “Doc McStuffins” has become the top-rated cable TV show for tots, pushing the doll to the top of the list for Christmas toys. This is good and not-so-good for the manufacturers of the toy, Just Play. Demand for the $34.99 doll is up much more than they were expecting, leaving parents the daunting task of scouting and searching for the doll everywhere.

Toys “R” Us and K-Mart stores have both been reporting whether or not new shipments of the toys have come in but some parents are resorting to eBay and Craigslist, where sellers are marking up the toy by more than 100 percent. The show, about a 6-year-old seeing herself as a doctor, caring for her toy "patients," performed really well during its first week in March, targeting 2- to 7-year-olds.(NY Daily News)
