Don Cheadle: Only Minority to Win at 2013 Golden Globes
4 months ago
Nominees included Denzel Washington and Sofia Vergara.
It’s no secret that people of color traditionally walk away empty handed at mainstream awards shows that recognize excellence in film and television. The 2013 Golden Globes were no exception. Don Cheadle has the dubious distinction of being the sole person of color to win at the 70th annual globes ceremony. He won the award for best actor in a comedy or musical TV series for “House of Lies.” While films that featured people of color such as “Django Unchained” received recognition—director Quentin Tarantino won a globe for the film for best motion picture screenplay—minority actors largely came up short at the awards ceremony. This list features entertainers of color who received globe nominations.
