Queen of Disco claimed inhaling air after 9/11 gave her deadly illness
The death of Donna Summer yesterday took the music industry and global community by surprise. But many didn't know about the singer's long battle with cancer. Now, we are learning more after her death.
Summer was battling lung cancer and said that she believed she got the disease that eventually killed her after inhaling air post 9/11.
Sources told TMZ that at the time of the most heinous terrorist attack in U.S. history, Summer was living near Ground Zero. She reportedly became paranoid about breathing the air around her because of the rancid odor it carried.
Danny Terio, the host of "Dance Fever," said that when he was around Donna post 9/11 she would hang silk sheets in her room to prevent dust from coming in. She would also spray odor disinfectant in the air.
Despite being a frequent cigarette smoker, she denied the belief many of her closest friends had that the lung cancer came from that. She denied that and even thought 9/11 was an attack on Christianity and she was suffering as a Christian.
