Loop on Location: Shared Interest Hosts "MANDELA: Long Walk to Freedom" Screening
The nonprofit organization hosts a VIP event for the Nelson Mandela biopic.
Shared Interest, a New York-based nonprofit that focuses on issues related to South Africa, hosted an exclusive benefit screening of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom in NYC recently, sharing the powerful film about the extraordinary life of South African President Nelson Mandela with VIPs and philanthropists.
The A-list attendees ranged from actors and actresses to Olympians and Ambassadors, all coming together to support the film at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square Theatre.
Among the attendees was Malik Yoba, actor on NBC’s Revolution, actress Troi Zee, Sahr Ngaujah of the Tony-winning Broadway musical Fela!, Aaron Ross of the New York Giants, four-time Olympian track star and TV personality Sanya Richards-Ross and Célia Faussart and Hélène Faussart of the Grammy-Nominated Les Nubians. Former South African Ambassador Barbara Masekela and South Africa Consul General George Monyemangene were also in attendance at the special screening.
“This epic film is a reminder of how far South Africa has come since the apartheid era, and the continuing long walk before us to make Madiba’s vision of social and economic transformation a daily reality for all South Africans," said Donna Katzin, executive director of Shared Interest.
