M.I.A Gives America the Finger During Super Bowl

The artist was a guest of Madonna's but decided to flip the bird

NBC missed the finger slip by less than a second. By the time the censors blurred out M.I.A.'s finger the deed was done. The NFL, which produces the show, had no immediate comment. NBC has commented, apologizing for the gesture. No word from Madonna either. However her stellar performance is now being overshadowed by M.I.A.'s middle finger.

M.I.A. is best known for her 2007 hit "Paper Planes," a Grammy nominee for record of the year that memorably features a sample of the Clash song, "Straight to Hell." It was featured on the soundtrack to the movie "Slumdog Millionaire."

There's been no word as to why the rapper decided to give America the finger. Perhaps she was unhappy with her cheerleader outfit.
