Miss New York Takes Miss America Crown
The pageant winner answers a question about armed guards in schools.
The Miss America crown is heading to the Big Apple after 23-year-old New Yorker, Mallory Hagan, won the beauty pageant. The Brooklyn-bred pageant winner captured the top prize after tap dancing to James Brown’s “Get up Off of That Thing” and answering a question about whether armed guards should be allowed in schools. Her response was violence should not be fought with violence.
Hagan won a $50,000 college scholarship and is expected to spend her title year on a national speaking tour and raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network, Miss America’s official charity. She bested Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers, who took second place, and Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton, who made third. (VOA News)
