Rapper received death threats after a lyric was misunderstood

Nicki Minaj does not support Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate running for president this election. On Lil' Wayne's "Dedication 4" mixtape track "Mercy," the rapper said, "I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney / You lazy bitches is f***ing up the economy." She received death threats from those who didn't sense her sarcasm; the president, however, did. During a radio interview with Orlando's Power 95.3, President Obama shrugged off the psuedo-support saying, "She likes to play different characters." Minaj confirmed her endorsement for our current POTUS via Twitter: "Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do... *sends love & support* @BarackObama." She also wrote, "Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question." (NBC)
