The singer says he has 85 chapters ready

After agreeing earlier this year to debut new chapters of the saga on television for the IFC channel, singer R. Kelly announced last night that he’s been offered the chance to bring “Trapped in the Closet” to Broadway.

“To transform it into a Broadway version, that’s what I’m working on,” he told a packed house at the Sunshine Theater, according to the Associated Press. Kelly used the performance to unveil the latest chapters in “Trapped in the Closet,” which will be shown on IFC Friday.

As for the show, Kells said he doesn't take it too seriously.

“I’m just having a lot of fun," he said. "I don’t have a job so I sit in the studio all day and think of stuff to do and this is just something stupid I’ve done that’s been successful for me."

The latest chapters introduce a few new faces and end with a cliffhanger, but the new chapters and the possible Broadway production aren't even close to the end.

“I want everybody to know I’ve got 85 chapters of ‘Trapped in the Closet’ waiting in the studio for y’all,” he said.
