Rapper Wyclef Jean to Headline Republican National Convention Event

In what may come as a shock for fans of hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean, the former Fugee is reportedly scheduled to perform at a Got Your 6 show during the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fl.

Apparently Jean wasn't the first choice for Got Your 6, a military veterans group. Country crooner Willie Nelson was scheduled to perform until he dropped out. Randy Travis was on tap to entertain the crowd until his rather untimely arrest for driving while intoxicated--and naked.

Jean, a self described "Obama groupie" who performed during President Obama's 2009 inauguration, will share the stage with co-host Meghan McCain, leading many to theorize that this may very well be a Republican attempt to rock the (youth) vote.

The rapper is no stranger to politics or higher office--having run for the presidency of his native island of Haiti in 2010.
