Says her body's weak, but not her mind
"Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts temporarily left the show nearly three weeks ago to begin her extended medical leave and start treatments for a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with MDS, a rare blood disorder. She first had to undergo chemotherapy before the procedure, and took to GMA's website Tuesday to blog about her progress, writing, "Last Sunday to lift my spirits I threw a little party at my apartment for my 'GMA' family. The next morning I walked through the hospital doors, with my guardian angels -- mom & dad -- back together and blazing a trail ahead of me. The start of last week went well but the daily chemo/treatment caught up to me by the weekend. My body is so weak but not my mind. YOU give me the courage to keep going. So today is my last day of chemo... Wednesday is called a day of rest, yay, right! The transplant is scheduled for Thursday morning. Bless you & Onward!" (Roberts' mother died just a day before she was scheduled to leave the show.) On Wednesday, she tweeted:
JUST completed chemo. Today is day of rest - positive thoughts, words & deeds. How every day should be. Love YOU from bottom of my graeful ♥.
