Top 10 Moments We Wish Didn't Happen in 2011
From Kim Kardashian's wedding to Oprah leaving daytime TV
As the year comes to a close, Loop 21 reflects on 2011. Sure, there were some good moments, but there were plenty of moments we wish we could forget. Here are our top 10 moments in entertainment we wish would have never happened.
Kim Kardashian's Wedding
Kim Kardashian filled for divorce only after 72 days of marriage and a four-hour wedding special on E!, which incited the eye roll heard 'round the world. The reality star princess claimed she got caught up in the wedding hype and didn't want to disappoint a lot of people. instead, she just wasted four hours of our precious lives we can never get back thanks to her wedding television special.
Lil Wayne Rocks Women's Jeggings
Ever since his stint in prison, Lil Wayne has been rocking some very questionable wardrobe decisions. First it was the leopard printed jeggings, and don't think we didn't notice those lime green Uggs in his latest video with Drake and Tyga "Motto."
Charlie Sheen's Breakdown
We're not sure what happened to Charlie Sheen this year. In fact, we don't think Charlie Sheen knows what happened to Charlie Sheen this year. After that jaw-dropping 20/20 interview, sporting his "goddess" around town and getting his kids yanked from his custody, Sheen clearly hasn't been winning.
Justin Bieber Starts Rapping
Diddy Goes Off on Partygoer for Not Drinking Ciroc
You know Diddy goes hard for his drink of choice, although I'm sure Janelle Monae wishes he would go that hard for her career. Still, remember when Diddy went OFF on an Atlanta partygoer for drinking Grey Goose in front of him? Thank goodness T.I. checked him. You would think after the East Coast/West Coast beef, Diddy would calm down.
T.I.'s Third Stint in Jail
It seemed like the "King of the South" couldn't catch a break this year. T.I. returned to the slammer after being picked up the first time in a luxury party bus. T.I. was finally released at the end of September, and it was all captured on his new hit reality show T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle.
Momma Jones Rapping on Love and Hip Hop
No one understood why Jim Jones mother, better known as Momma Jones, decided to release a diss record about her future daughter-in-law Chrissy Lampkin on World Star Hip Hop. Still, she did and quickly got checked by her son and Chrissy. "Mommy, you should not even be rapping," Jim told her on his hit reality show Love and Hip Hop. Our sentiments exactly.
Jay-Z and Kanye West Perform "N*ggas in Paris" Upteen Times at Concert
It was cute the first time they did it, but did Jay-Z and Kanye West, also known as "The Throne," really need to perform their hit "N*ggas in Paris" eleven times? For all of that, the hip hop titans could've performed more classics from their albums, separately.
Oprah Winfrey Leaves Daytime TV
The Queen of Daytime TV left her post...and even at the end of the year it's empty. Oprah Winfrey said goodbye to the beloved Oprah Winfrey Show after 25 year. Many thought Oprah would retire, but instead she's running her own network literally. OWN, despite programming issues, gets a lot of support from advertisers and African-American viewers.
Eddie Murphy Pulls Out of the Oscars
Mannnn, we were looking forward to the 84th Academy Awards next year because comedian Eddie Murphy was slated to host. Well, not anymore thanks to Brett Ratner and his inappropriate remarks. Now we're stuck with Billy Crystal again! At least the Academy tapped Pharrell Williams to give "musical supervision" for the Academy Awards telecast (whatever that means).
