In new book, Cissy Houston reveals her feelings about daughter’s drug fights
Cissy Houston isn’t mincing words about her late daughter, music icon Whitney Houston, and her turbulent marriage to R&B bad boy Bobby Brown. In a new book released today, Cissy Houston says she always doubted that Brown was right for Whitney. "I do believe her life would have turned out differently," she writes. "It would have been easier for her to get sober and stay sober. Instead she was with someone who, like her, wanted to party. To me, he never seemed to be a help to her in the way she needed." Cissy Houston portrays Brown as childish and impulsive, hot tempered and jealous of Whitney’s success. “Remembering Whitney,” the book’s title, is being released two weeks before the one-year anniversary of the singer’s death. She drowned in a hotel bathtub in Beverly Hills, Calif., at age 48. Authorities said cocaine use and heart disease contributed to her demise. (Associated Press)
