Seven Funny Moments From President Obama

With a few exceptions, it’s hit or miss for the president as comedian-in-chief

Immediately following his inauguration, Barack Obama had little time to giggle -- let alone catch his breath -- in his first 100 days in office. Laugh-out-loud moments are hard to come by when the economy is in the toilet, when your political foes want to see you fail in the worst way, and when the world still expects high performance from the leader of the foremost superpower.

Not much funny about that. In spite of it all, there are a few shining moments. “Professor” Obama is known to stop lecturing and play comedian-in-chief, every once in a while. Here are a few of the funnier moments from his presidency and candidacy:

Keeping It Real On Student Loan Debt

Obama leveled with students at the University of Colorado on his and Michelle’s massive student loan debt after law school. (Begins at 15:30)

Prop Falls, Just Roll With It

During a speech at Fortune Magazine’s “Most Powerful Women Summit,” Obama demonstrates his improvisational skills.

Midas Touch

Obama shows up wife Michelle, who struggles to sooth a crying baby as they greet White House visitors.

Trumping Donald Trump

Obama’s pre-rehearsed comedic routine destroys Donald Trump and his birther conspiracy theories.

Taking a Break From Venomous Campaign Fights

Less than a month for his election to the presidency, candidate Obama delivered a few jokes at his own expense during the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner.

Candidate Obama Proves He's Black Enough

During a stop at the National Association of Black Journalist's convention, a tardy Obama tells a well-timed race joke. Catch it in the first minute of the video.

Obama likens the GOP primary race to 'Survivor'

During a recent stop on Jay Leno, the president belittles the Republican primary process.
