Would You Wear a 6-Sided Bracelet?
Because the only thing better than one clumsy screen on your wrist is six.
Nokia could be entering the smartwatch market with a guaranteed friend repellant.
The company has been given patent approval for its clunky new device -- known as the "Facet" -- that features different applications on each screen; time, email, weather, etc. Basically multiple pop-out touch screens were slapped onto a wristband and labeled wearable tech.
It's not clear that the thing will actually make its way into your nearest Radioshack. But to make a point that Nokia might not be punking us, Kent Lyons, one of the device's masterminds, told Engadget that there's been an academic paper on it and also supplied a video of the prototype in action.
I mean, it would be kind of cool if it wasn't totally impractical and obnoxious.
Several other tech companies such as Sony and Samsung are trying to enter the smartwatch market, and rumor has it that Google and Apple might make their own versions too.
But in all seriousness, stop trying to make smartwatches happen. It's not going to happen.
