Could You Have Tuberculosis?
A Nevada hospital is under investigation as 140 infants may have been exposed to the highly contagious bacterial infection, tuberculosis.
One woman diagnosed with tuberculosis may have exposed and thus spread the infection throughout the hospital, including the NICU full of newborns.
She had given birth to twins, and one of the babies also fell ill with the sickness. All three were tragic fatalities to tuberculosis this past summer. The health district continues to search for more potential cases at the particular hospital.
Believed to have contracted TB via unpasteurized dairy products from Mexico, there is no direct proof of how the mother of newborn twins fell ill.
Investigation remains as 24 more people have contracted a latent infection which will develop into full-fledged tuberculosis later on, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
