Do Sports Stars Endorse Unhealthy Products?
From the effects of athlete endorsements to brain breakthroughs, science has revealed some new studies' results.
While seemingly fit and well in theory, sports superstars are not contributing their healthy habits to children as they should. A new study found that professional athletes tend to endorse not-so-healthy products more than anything.
A whopping 79 percent of the 62 food products endorsed by athletes are energy-dense and nutrient poor. With 93.4 percent of 46 beverages containing 100 percent calories from added sugar, this is not good.
Star players such as LeBron James and Peyton Manning are two main contributors.
Another study states that the first-ever chemical compound to stop brain tissue from dying off due to neurodegenerative disease has been discovered. This could be world-changing with regards to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
Today, though, it is still being tested on mice with further investigation before it can safely work for humans.
