The stress of work, family, and life in general can sometimes make getting fit and sticking to a healthy diet difficult. But can you imagine trying to maintain that same healthy lifestyle with the challenges and responsibilities that come with being a CEO?
Loop21 reached out to CEOs of businesses that range from production companies to online retailers to see how these industry leaders manage to meet their health and fitness goals while also overseeing growing enterprises.
I pack my meals up the night before, along with my vitamins, supplements, and workout gear, so I’m not rushing in the morning. I also have a workout schedule in a training book, so I know exactly what I'm doing each session and I can keep track of my workouts. Along with training in martial arts, boxing, weight lifting, kettle bell, and CrossFit, I also do Pilates or yoga twice a week to help with my flexibility, balance, and core strength.--Jillian Bullock, CEO of Jillian Bullock Enterprises
[I try] to walk a lot. --Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos
I manage to stay healthy by meditating every morning, visualizing my entire day, and riding my bike at least twice a week. --Eric Harrison, Editor-in-Chief, The Los Angeles Post
I try to do fun things to spice up my workout plan, like a hip-hop class that I take once a week, and Pilates. I also try to watch what I eat and only indulge once a week. The best advice I can give is to plan your healthy meals ahead of time. It helps! --Mia Hall, CEO of M.F.H. Productions, LLC
I exercise six days a week and I eat 90% clean (meaning no process foods). I do an hour of yoga on Sundays, and create weekly to-do lists that keep me sane and organized. I don’t do anything work related on weekends, and during the week I stop working by 10 p.m. This allows me to settle down and unwind for the night. I make sure to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night, I read often, and take time out to be with my two dogs: Wilson and Domino. --Yaritza Zayas, CEO and founder of Buena Vida Coaching
