Between table sugar and hidden sugars found in beverages, snacks and meals, most Americans consume at least 22 teaspoons of sugar per day according to a recent study by the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, which found that consuming high amounts of sugar increases the risk of heart disease, heart attacks and strokes regardless of weight.
