Krokodil: The Worst Drug in the World
This drug makes heroine look fun.
Three people are currently under the care of Dr. Abhin Singala of Presence St. Joseph Medical Center near Chicago after having taken krokodil.
So, what exactly is this new drug?
It's a cheap, knock-off of heroin from Russia infamous for causing gangrene and abscesses so extreme, muscles, tendons, and bones become exposed due to the flesh-eating symptoms.
"If you want to kill yourself, this is the way to do it," said Dr. Singala.
Having been around Russia due to a heroin shortage for over a decade, krokodil is just now making its way into the United States, unfortunately, with initial instances reported just two weeks ago in Arizona.
The average life expectancy for a krokodil addict is less than two years according to Dr. Singala.
Do you know anyone who has been affected by this brand new [to the U.S.] street drug?
