Molly Takes Down the Zoo
Molly may not be as friendly as you think.
Popular music festival, Electric Zoo, has canceled after two MDMA-related deaths.
Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or MDMA, is ecstasy. The current trend, commonly known as Molly, is a “pure” powder or crystal form of MDMA. This psychedelic stimulant popularized as it is said to enhance the electronic music experience.
Molly seems to have taken the spotlight, which formerly belonged to Lucy (ie. LSD; think Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds).
While ecstasy is commonly laced with numerous, harmful and dangerous additives, Molly is thought to be a pure form of the drug. Therefore, more people who are hesitant to drug usage will try it, finding safety in its ‘pureness.’
New York closed Electric Zoo a day early after two concert-goers died and more than four others were hospitalized as a highly-potential result of “hanging with Molly.”
