Put Down That Chicken
Be careful which chicken you choose as 18 states endure a salmonella outbreak.
Nearly 300 victims have fallen ill due to salmonella from three Foster Farms facilities, resulting in a public health alert: Be cautious when consuming chicken, especially right now.
The issue was first detected in March according to the United States Department of Agriculture, and it has since worsened.
Associated with retail outlets in California, Oregon, and Washington to start, the illness has spread across 18 states to date according to the USDA.
"Investigators had a difficult time pinpointing the source of the illnesses," said Dan Engeljohn of USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service.
